Thirty-ish years ago a new band by the name of 1927 released their debut album ISH which went on to sell more than half a million copies across the world. The four singles from the album all reached the top 10 and have continued to be radio favourites ever since.
To celebrate the 30ish Anniversary, ORiGiN Music commissioned re-imagined versions of each of the 10 songs from that album. Following on from the successful first taste in April via Normie Rowe’s emotional version of the ballad Compulsory Hero the project has delivered yet again with a stunning rendition of the radio hit If I Could, this time performed by Bathurst-based country singer Sophie Jones.
If I Could is Sophie’s first cover solo recording.
Originally from Tamworth, Sophie moved to Bathurst to study at CSU and became immersed in the active music scene around the university campus and Bathurst area. She teamed up with pianist, singer and songwriter Abby Smith to form the duo Smith & Jones.
The RE-IMAGINED project has been arranged and produced by Sydney based composer, musician, engineer and producer Michael Carpenter at Love Hz Studio. The project is close to completion and is due for release as an album in October.
