Rising star Josie, from Queensland, has released her debut single Down Here. Even though she may be the new kid on the block, the track sounds like the work of seasoned pro. Its catchy hooks and clever lyrics are not only an excellent introduction to the witty singer–songwriter, but a bold statement by an artist set to blaze a trail.
“The recording process was honestly a dream come true,” says Josie. “Being my first time even setting foot in a studio I was pretty nervous. As soon as I walked in the doors at MSquared I knew I was in great hands. So many magic moments throughout my week there, I seriously never wanted it to end.”
Josie’s ties to rural life run deep through Down Here. It’s not just an ode to the way she was raised, but also a clever quip about the authenticity of contemporary country tunes.
Having discovered her passion for songwriting at the age of seven, she attended the junior academy of country music in the nation’s country music capital, Tamworth; was a finalist in the 2019 Gympie Music Muster talent search; and reached the Top 10 of the 2022 Groundwater KIX Start competition. And as a vocalist, she’s a force to be reckoned with.
