A richly filigreed novel-in-miniature, 50 Dollars $ilver is the lead single lifted from Baby It Was Real and We Were The Best, the masterful fourth studio album from Ohio-raised, Sydney-based alt. country artist Jenny Queen to be released early next year.
50 Dollars $ilver is a study in the profound tension that comes of, as Jenny puts it, “the push and pull between fatalism and that very human feeling—the idea that I can fix this: I can change my own future.”
Sloping into frame with an ominous jangle, the track’s sole survivor considers his fate amid the sanguine, buckshot-riddled aftermath of a play or deal gone south. Enveloped in swathes of richly resonant low-slung guitars, tortured lead and fluting keys, it’s an opening gambit that commands attention from the drop.
Produced by ARIA Award-winning Shane Nicholson (Catherine Britt, Jason Walker), showcasing Jenny’s celebrated, powerfully poetic lyricism and versatile vocal powers as never before.
