DACY—
Following recent singles Don’t You Think It’s Funny and She Wants to be Loved, Melbourne duo DACY has released the first single from their upcoming EP, Alone. The song delves into the uncertainties of the early stages of a relationship, capturing the anxieties of overthinking and confessing feelings to someone. The sentiment is captured in lyrics like “I’ve been so alone that I don’t know if I remember how to be with somebody.”
The song is personal and heartfelt, staying true to DACY’s sound, characterized by storytelling, honesty, acoustic instrumentation, and rich harmonies. DACY’s musical influences range from classic artists including The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, and James Taylor, and contemporary icons including Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, and Justin Timberlake, all of whom contribute to the shaping of DACY’s unique sound and songwriting style.
While the song came about spontaneously, the duo had been listening to Ryan Tedder’s songwriting playlist, and elements of the nostalgic ballads can be heard in the finished product. The track was written solely by Jack and Ruby Dacy and was produced by Jack Joseph Puig and Pete Dacy.
