That Holden Saved My Life is another bush ballad from the song writing team of Allan Caswell and Manfred Vijars, who have been Golden Guitar finalists four times and won the Bush Ballad Award in 2016 and 2020. Allan has been a finalist in this category five times in five years.
Like most good bush ballads That Holden Saved My Life is a true story of a near fatal car crash Allan was involved in in the early 70s. The song also deals with the loss of yet another Australian icon, The Holden.
Allan recorded his vocals at Sven Tydeman’s studio on the Gold Coast and sent them to producer Damian Cafarella who recorded the backing tracks and mixed the final track in Melbourne.
“Traditional Country Music is my thing and the bush ballad is the most Australian form of Country Music,” says Allan.
